(Yeah, the same thread I put up on PokéCommunity) Popular franchises, but with different developers at the helm. Nintendo's done this a lot, for better or for worse. Star Fox with Rare and later Namco. F-Zero with Sega. Zelda with Capcom. Metroid with Retro and later Team Ninja. Donkey Kong with Rare and later Retro. What do you think of these kinds of collaborations? Good? Bad? Are there any that you'd like to see in the future? And not just restricted to Nintendo, despite the above examples. As unlikely as it is, I think a Retro Studios and BioWare co-developed Zelda game would be pretty cool. With DK and Metroid, Retro has shown that it can respect and pay tribute to the established format while advancing it (moreso in the case of Metroid) in a way that doesn't seem out of place. Zelda desperately needs that. Skyward Sword had great ideas. But they were like little pockets of freshness. I didn't like the overall product, it felt incomplete. And then BioWare can come into play for the script. It could really expand and breath life into the Zelda universe, choices would be a great and well-fitting addition, even light-RPG elements to bring the series back to its root. I just don't want to see Link get it on with a Goron though.
Most of the ones I've seen ended up well. Capcom's Zelda games are actually some of my favorites in the series (I absolutely love the Oracle games), and Retro's Metroid games are pretty good. I also liked Metroid: Other M. I would love to see Retro Studios work on a Zelda game. If the rumors of them making a new Star Fox turn out to be true, I'll be really excited.
I guess I would like to see Retro Studios make the next entry in the F-Zero series. Since they successfully reinvigorated Metroid and Donkey Kong I think they could do it again with F-Zero. I just want a new F-Zero game so bad
