What is the best game of all time? Now this is never an easy question to answer so let's broaden it to the top 5 games of all time. Just list your top 5 games, any system, any genre, in any order. What makes a game great to one person can be very different from what the next person thinks so it will be interesting to see what you guys post.

    My top 5 games are:
1.) The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D (3DS)
I wasn't sure which version of Ocarina to include on this list. I chose 3D because a) it's in 3D B) it includes Master Quest c) it has updated graphics d) has a new boss rush mode and e) has better controls. Obviously the original version is widely regarded as the greatest game of all time but playing this updated version proves how good Miyamoto's classic really is. It still holds up 13 years later and is without question a must-own title.

    2.) Mass Effect 2 (Xbox 360)
Mass Effect 2 greatly improved from its predecessor in every way. It's accessible yet complex at the same time. At no point was I unsure as to what to do even though I had so much to explore and experience. It is a perfect mix of intense gameplay and riveting storytelling, possibly the best story I've experienced in a game. Also, the graphics are mind-blowing. I remember staring at environments and characters just because they looked so incredible and life-like, especially the aliens. Absolute perfection.

    3.) Metroid Prime (GCN)
For its time, Metroid Prime had amazing graphics. The soundtrack and level design still holds up though. It was the very first Metroid game I ever played and I've been a fan ever since. Fantastic exploration and immersive gameplay.

4.) Super Mario Galaxy 2 (Wii)
Is there a better platformer? This is why I play video games. The levels were more innovative then Galaxy's and the orchestral soundtrack is incredible. Pure bliss.

5.) Batman: Arkham City (Xbox 360)
This is the greatest superhero game ever made. Ever. The world may not be as realistic as the Nolan movies but it is more authentic. When Bruce Wayne suits up as Batman, an achievement pops up titled "I'm Batman". I thought to myself "Damn right". Also some of the greatest voice acting in a game.

    Banjo-Kazooie
This game perfected what Super Mario 64 started. An expertly crafted adventure platformer that isn't as super-heavy on the collect-a-thon aspects as later entries to the genre. I played this to death as a kid and I still love it today. Superb level design, a good arsenal of moves, super-catchy soundtrack, and a touch of humour.

    Metroid Prime
This was the first Metroid game I actually played (except for a copy of Metroid II on Game Boy that I briefly borrowed from a friend once). It was very impressive. It was immersive, transcendent. I hadn't played anything that felt like that before. You were Samus and surrounded by a feeling of isolation. The world was very organic. At the same time, the game felt very "gamey" with having to shoot doors to open them. It was interesting blend that worked really well. It was the first time I said to myself "that was a good game" after putting the controller down at the end

    Pikmin
I know most people like the second game because of its additions and the removal of the time element. But, I like the original because of its simplicity. I like the environments, I felt bad when I lost Pikmin in battle, I enjoyed trying to beat the clock and get a lot done in one day. I've played this game many times. It's one of Miyamoto's finest.

The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask
Took what made Ocarina of Time great and made it better. Better graphics, a more thematic soundtrack, darker story and atmosphere, greater NPC development and interaction, more sidequests, greater dungeon puzzles. It was a shorter game but there were layers to it.

The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap
The best topdown-style Zelda game, the end.

    I would say...

    1. Suikoden (As a series)

I love all of the Suikodens and although the second game is my most favorite, I just love them all so much I couldn't choose just one, plus if I didn't group them, you'd just see Suikoden Suikoden Suikoden in the top five favorites... XD
I love everything about the Suikoden games! Great battles, customizable magic, great music, graphics, a wide array of recruitable characters, a more than usual story and plot....beautiful worlds and all of the stories are connected to each other somehow. Maybe one character re appears, or you get to go to that town that was mentioned in another game.

    2. Chrono Cross
I had actually played Chrono Cross a bit after I obtained Suikoden II.. I fell in love with it as well.
I loved the graphics, the music, beautiful worlds, customizable magic, the amount of recruitable characters. It was Suikoden all over again.

    3. Kya Dark Lineage
Most of my friends will honestly think Kya Dark Lineaege is my most favorite game ever, but that is only because no one knows the game and so I must do what I can to get the game out there more. (Hey, I even got contacted by the creators, saying what a good job I was doing promoting the game. Pretty cool! )
I love Kya, it's an interesting story that hasn't really been done before. The game has beautiful graphics for it's time, nice (mostly calm) music, cool power ups, more than usual weapons and most importantly...it's just really fun and the battles are one of the best parts of it!

    4. Sly Cooper (Series)
My favorite Sly Cooper happens to be Sly Cooper 2, it's the longest game and I just love it.
The reason why it's my 4th favorite game, is that it's one of the only games, like Suikoden, Kya and Chrono Cross. That I just have to replay it every now and again, it's just such a fun game that I must play it sometimes... where as I don't usually do that with most games.
I love the sneaking around, the battles, the power ups. The characters are all love able (Yes, even Neyla.).

    5. Beyond Good & Evil.
As stated above, Beyond Good & Evil is one of those games where I do like to play it over every now and again.
It has some similarities with Kya Dark Lineage as well, especially the whole "Know one knows of this game, what is this I don't know."
It's just a really fun game to play, the graphics are nice and you even get to take pictures in the game, it has a nice story and a fun battle system too.
